「『糸から布へ』・『もようを織る』・『かすりを織る』出版記念講演会」
小林 桂子 ＜織物作家＞

内容：
基礎的な布の構造と古代の機による織物の組織や紋様の展開、特に錦と呼ばれる織物の紋織そして絣織に至るまで、日本での定説と異なる欧米の学説を含めて説明します。
多岐にわたる世界中・歴史的なテキスタイルの各々が、どのように関連してどのような位置にあるのか，染織を学ぶ学生の参考書として技法を中心にまとめた３冊を紹介します。

プロフィール：
織物作家である小林桂子は、米国のカリフォルニア、バークレーで織物の創作と世界の染織史を学び、1981年帰国後に日本の染織史を学んだ後、織物作品を個展で10回発表した。
海外や日本各地のかごや紋織を調査記録し、「手織の仲間」や小冊子「げんりゅう」に連載するかたわら、作品創りに手を動かし、多綜絖やジャカード装置の機で織る経験を通して考察したことを、布を作る技法の解説書「糸から布へ」・「もようを織る」・「かすりを織る」の３冊にまとめた。

Contents
Explaining about the basic structures of fabrics and relations between woven structures, looms and patterns by ancient loom, especially the pattern of the fabric called “Nishiki” and splashed pattern with the theory of Japan and Europe.
Introducing 3 books that focus on techniques and explaining how each of the world’s historical textiles are related and positioned as a reference for students studying dyeing and weaving.

Profile
Keiko Kobayashi studied World History of Textiles in Berkeley, California, USA. Came back home and studied History of textiles in Japan and held Textile Exhibitions 10 times. She put together three books on the technique of making fabric through her experience of weaving with the jacquard device and multi-heddle loom while investigating and recording baskets and textiles from overseas and Japan, serial publication of [Teori no nakama] and booklet[Genryu], devoting herself to creating new works.
