「まだ見ぬ布を求めて　新井淳一の創作」
新井 正直 (あらい まさなお)・求美(もとみ)

内容：
2017年の夏まで、私たちは新井淳一の布づくりをサポートしてきました。本人が最後に染めた布、生涯こだわっていた糸づくり、常に手元に置いていた世界各地の手仕事の染織品等を、実物や画像で示しながら、まだ見ぬ布を求め続けた制作の一端をご紹介します。
※物版あり（大変貴重なストール、糸（強撚糸）など）すべて火災被害のチャリティー販売とさせていただきます。(事務局より）

プロフィール：
Junichi Arai + M&M／新井淳一記念工房
新井淳一の長女・求美とその夫・正直が、淳一の自宅兼工房に残した作品や資料の整理・調査を行いながら、その素材を使って作品制作を行っています。（※現在、記念工房の開設準備中／開館時期未定）

◆新井求美

• 群馬県桐生市生まれ。
• 桐生市所蔵の民族染織コレクションの整理と分類を行う。また、その写真集『染織デザイン資料誌』を編集。
• 2001年から2004年まで「新井淳一コレクション展」（銀座松屋デザインギャラリー、計４回開催）の解説を担当。
• 2006年、「Cross-Cloth～布の世界～新井淳一の布展」（調布市文化会館「たづくり」）、「布ものがたり～伝統からの飛翔―新井淳一の世界展」（トヨタテクノミュージアム産業技術記念館）におけるコレクション部門の解説を担当。
• 創作手織工房「桐生織塾」で武藤和夫氏に手織りを学ぶ。平成22年から塾長。

◆新井正直

• 群馬県勢多郡赤城村（現・渋川市）生まれ。
• 1982年から2015年まで、群馬県繊維工業試験場に勤務。繊維企業の支援のためデザイン開発研究の他、製品試験等、幅広い業務を担当。
• 2016年から義父と共にメタリック・スリット糸を使った織物開発を開始。また、同年12月開会の「布衣再造・新井淳一芸術展」（湖北美術館／中国・武漢市）、翌年開会の「新井淳一芸術展」（香港理工大学／～2018年2月）の日本側事務局、作品解説を担当。
• 2017年、妻・求美と共に作家名「Junichi Arai + M&M」として、義父の織物制作活動を継承する。

We had been supporting creative activities of Junichi Arai until summer in 2017. Introducing a part of his creations through the last fabric he dyed and handicrafts and textiles from all over the world.

Profile
Junichi Arai + M&M / Memorial Studio of Junichi Arai Motomi - daughter of Junichi Arai and her husband Masanao are producing their works using materials that Junichi left at his home/studio while investigating his works and articles. (Currently preparing to open Memorial Studio/Opening date undecided)

Motomi Arai
Born in Kiryu City, Gunma.
Organizing and classifying ethnic dyeing collections in Kiryu City. Also editing their photo book [Textile Design Materials Magazine]. A commentator of [Junichi Arai Collection Exhibition] (Matsuya Ginza Gallery, held 4times) from 2001 to 2004. Commentated on [Cross-Cloth World of cloth Textile Exhibition of Junichi Arai](Chofu City Cultural Hall) and [Story of Cloth ? World of Junichi Arai](Toyota Techno Museum) in 2006. Studied hand-weaving under Kazuo Mutou at Kiryu-Orijuku and have become the headmaster in 2010.

Masanao Arai
Born in Akagi-village, Seta District, Gunma.
Worked at Gunma Textile Industry Experiment Station from 1982 to 2015. In charge of design development and product testing to support textile companies. Started textile development with his father-in-law using metallic slit thread from 2016. Secretary-general and a commentator of [Junichi Arai Art Exhibition](Hubei Museum of Art, China) in December 2016 and [Junichi Arai Art Exhibition](The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) in 2017-Feb 2018. Inheriting Junichi’s textile manufacturing activities with his wife as {Junichi Arai + M&M}.
